Where I Sew – Tamara Kate
Tamara Kate grew up in the hot and colorful Caribbean island of Trinidad, where one cannot help but be influenced by the beauty of the land and the vibrancy of the multicultural population. She was raised by a father who is a skilled draftsman and a sewing, needlepointing, quilting, rug hooking mom who encouraged constant creativity from the get-go, both at home and throughout their children’s education. She has been sewing for as long as she can remember, with recent addictive forays into quilting.
Tamara is a licensed fabric designer with Michael Miller Fabrics. Her fifth collection, Origami Oasis is set to hit stores in early September. Tamara currently lives in Montreal with her husband and two fiercly loved little ones, from whom she derives much creative inspiration.

How nice to have your sewing table in front of a window and a great stash of fabric close at hand. Love your chair!
View CommentJuly 29, 2014
Nice light space. Here’s a suggestion as I’m looking at that lovely stash in the bins on your sewing table by the window…keep your fabric away from direct sunlight (just tuck the bins under your table) so it doesn’t fade or deteriorate. I learned this the hard way. kthurn@bektel.com
