“StephC began obsessively twiddling with fibers as a child, to supplement her imagination.  After 23 years of sewing, teaching sewing, and working in costume/design shops, StephC launched Cake Patterns to address the needs of the 21st century sewist.  Cake is all about making the sewing simpler and more intuitive through using your measurements as the size to the thoughtful, detailed instructions written in plain English.  Cake is designed to help you create cute, comfy wardrobe staples you’ll reach for again and again!”

    • It does! I have a small house but a nicely set up space to work, and very often I use it as a desk, too… Means I have to keep everything tidy. 🙂

    • Quilter-friends of mine got me in the habit of swiveling between my ironing board and sewing machine for efficiency/laziness, and it just grew from there… 😉

    • I love it, too… It was already attached to the ironing board and has silicon on it, I think? Like plastic but not melty… 🙂

  16. Love the photo. What a crack up. In looking at all the sewing spaces featured so far this month I notice some trends: cats love sewing rooms, Ikea is a savior for creating creative spaces, sew-ers are very resourceful.

  24. Takes a bunch of sewists to give high praise for an ironing board multi-tasking as a desk! Mine makes a regular appearance in the living room. Handy for many reasons. Could use a more styling cover, too 😉
