What We’re Making! Cooper Bag by Colette Patterns

on Dec 21, 2013 in Sewing, What We're Making | 2 comments

The Cooper Bag from Colette Patterns came along at just the right time.  My daughter has been asking for a new book bag for school, since school started. I found the perfect fabric in my stash.

The pattern has 3 style options, backpack, messenger and satchel. My daughter doesn’t use a backpack these days so I chose the messenger bag version.

The pattern instructions are very well written with a lot of detail. There is also a Cooper Companion instruction book that can be purchased to give even more detailed info. If you’ve had any experience making bags you can successfully make this bag using the instructions given with the pattern.

The hardware used was found in my stash. The rings and swivel hooks give the bag a more polished look.

Modifications made include and interior zipper to keep special things safe. The backpack handle was added to the messenger giving an easier way to grab hold of the bag.

The size of the Cooper Bag is perfect to fit a binder and books. My daughter is loving her bag. It holds all the necessary items for the high school student. The exterior has great pockets for the phone. A water bottle fits in the side pocket!

With the Cooper Bag, Sarai has filled a much needed gap in the bag market. The size proportions and style are spot on. I love the Cooper Bag!

Happy sewing!

  1. This is a great bag! A local shop (Modern Domestic) is giving a class for it ~ think I may have to take it!
