Where I Sew – Nicole Mallalieu of You Sew Girl
Nicole Mallalieu is the designer, pattern-maker and writer behind YOU SEW GIRL patterns. As well as making patterns, she also teaches sewing and patternmaking, and writes books and the occasional magazine project. Nicole’s passion and work is all about helping people to sew better than they ever thought they could, focusing on detailed instructions for professionally-finished techniques. Her studio is also a classroom, and between classes, she and her 7-year-old daughter fill all 6 tables with their own obsessive crafting. Lots have commented on the natural light, which is fantastic, but I also love that you have lamps placed brilliantly to ensure that you can always see what you are doing without pesky shadows and without the light being in the way. Awesome!

Lots of open space! I often feel cramped and like I’m bumping into everything while sewing, so that must be nice.
View CommentAugust 3, 2013
Nikki’s sewing space is dream worthy and I love her designs! Now if only we didn’t live on opposite sides of the world, I would help her fill up those 6 tables whenever possible. ;o)

I’m just wishing I could’ve seen the other side of the room too, which I guess holds the fabric stash and all the colors. But this is lonely, you cannot ever have toonmuch counter space.
