What We’re Making! Liberty Top and Knit Cardigan

on Mar 21, 2013 in Sewing, What We're Making | 14 comments

Spring sewing is in the air at Pink Chalk Fabrics. Jacqui stitched up a fabulous Liberty Of London Kwik Sew #3308 Top and Butterick #B5760 Cardigan using a knit from her stash.

The Kwik Sew pattern in size small or medium uses only 1 yard of Liberty Of London in the Whiltshire 9009-S classic print.

What are you sewing for spring?

Happy sewing!

  1. I love love love the top! The fabric, the pattern, the detail. I am always afraid of this style because–what do you wear under it? I would spend all day yanking up a strapless bra. Am I just unlucky, or is there a magic secret I have somehow missed out on?

I love the cardigan too 🙂

  2. Dree, I use a Body By Victoria multi way strapless from Victoria’s Secret. As you can see from the excess fabric hanging off our svelte mannequin, I fill out the top more and this strapless works for me.

  4. Great top and sweater, both are something I would love to make for myself. I just finished a darling blue/gray kit dress McCall’s M6112, quick and easy too. Thanks for sharing with us.

  6. Just saw this and think it’s really cute. I ordered the pattern and I will need to find a cute sweater to go over it. 🙂

  7. Jacqui, this is gorgeous! Did you use the A view pattern but reduce the thickness of the neck band? Can I ask how wide you made yours?

  9. Kristy,
Thank you! For the neckband, I found that it was too tall for my neck. I folded it in half and slip stitched it closed. I really like this width better (the top is at home but I think it is about 5/8th of an inch wide) and I like that it added more stability to the weight.
    Ellen,
Though I couldn’t find the pattern at the Kwik Sew website, I was able to find it at a local independent shop.
