What We’re Making! Essex Linen Towels

What we’re making! Kitchen towels using Essex Linen and Echino by Etsuko Furuya. Becky stitched up these happy little towels using Essex Linen and scrapes of Echino.

Hem all four sides then attach a band of your favorite print. The printed patchwork on the Echino fabric makes it look like the towel was pieced together. Using 1 yard of Linen, Becky created 2 towels measuring approximately 34 1/2″ x 20 1/2″ wide. For shrinkage information take a look at the Essex Linen shrink test.

Beautiful mitered corners.

Stamped from Ellen Luckett Baker would make some amazing towels as well.

Happy sewing!

  1. Wow, those towels are almost too beautiful to actually use! Love the texture and weight! Those mitered corners look absolutely perfect and crisp. Excellent!

  3. You can also make these with terry towels for the bathroom. Make sure you prewash/preshrink the towels before you sew the band on, but otherwise it works the exact same way. I love to make towels for gifts – they are always welcome and are easy to mail to friends and family who live far away!
