Notepad Cover for Mom

This is the notepad cover I designed and made for my Mom for Mother’s Day. She serves as a board member on a regional arts council and is taking over as President at the beginning of July. Way to go Mom! Now she can attend the meetings in style.

She’s been wanting something for an 8 1/2″ x 11″ notepad vs. the 5″ x 7″ version I’ve shown before. I decided on this folder design. There’s a pocket for papers on the inside left and a pen pocket on the right side. I inserted Peltex interfacing between the fabric layers, a separate piece on each side. I left about 3/4 inch in the spine area. This gave me space to machine stitch down the open edges on the inside after the Peltex was inserted. It also creates more room to accomodate a larger stack of papers on the inside. I top stitched around the outside edges to secure the interfacing and provide more support to the whole design. Here’s a pic of the inside:

Thanks for all the nice comments you’ve been leaving. I like to follow each comment’s link back to the writer’s blog and then leave you comments about your creations. It’s a fun way to discover lots of new inspiration and connect with others in this amazing world of craft blogging. If you don’t have a blog I like to send a response to your e-mail. I’m a school volunteer on steroids this week so I’m lagging on this little system but I will catch up!
